Are you ready to get started on your training journey? Join us for a 4-week course that is all about “meeting your puppy” ​t​o help you lay ​the most solid foundation for ​a​​ lifetime of happiness together. In this class, we will focus on bonding, essential leash handling, behavior management, and training skills to help your puppy succeed in a “college level world”.

You will learn how to set the stage for “perfect socialization and training”; ​f​ind the confidence, connection and focus you need to succeed around distraction; ​become savvy on re-engag​ing with ​y​our puppy when ​you lose ​their focus​ and they pull on leash; get ​y​our puppy to move when they stall​; and help them calm down when they get mouthy with you, the leash, or the kids! Get prepared as you also take a breath, chill out, and re-find your center together - and it puts you both on a positive path for calmness and connection​ down the road!

Calm + Focus 1 includes:

  • Behavior management skills

  • Reinforcement strategies

  • Mindfulness and relaxation skills

  • Calm + focus games

  • Intro to Clicker Training

Once you find your center, the brain is freed up to respond in an optimal way. We like to say, “When you are calm, you can focus. When you can focus, you can do anything!” Once you and your puppy are well connected and centered, you are ready for all that comes next in the Skills 1 class!

the goal: You have a more calm, settled, and focused pup…and you are able to help them regain calmness when they lose it!

to maximize learning: Start around 10 weeks or as early as possible. Take this class at the same time as Social 1 to develop your puppy’s essential dog-dog interaction skills, as this class does not have play time with other pups. We also recommend following this course with Skills 1.

Before your first class: It’s important that you have attended our Wonder Parenting Orientation. If you have already attended this orientation, there is no need to attend again. Once you attend, we will send you the slides from the class to share with any other family members who were not able to attend.

  • consists of 4 weekly 1-hour in-studio classes

    limited to one puppy per sign-up

  • puppy who’s 10 weeks or older
    up-to-date on their vaccines and meets our vaccination and health requirements
    in the home for at least 10 days before start of first service

    puppy behavior requirements - puppy must be manageable when in close proximity to other people and dogs. If your puppy is known to be very vocal or reactive toward other dogs (even if they are just being overly-excited), in studio class is not the right fit for now. Please chat with the office for other options or if you are unsure.

    your puppy has not had any diarrhea, lethargy, coughing or sneezing for at least 24 hours before coming to class

    please note: if your puppy is in heat (estrus cycle), please attend class without your puppy

  • Whenever possible, we love having the whole family involved! 

    For safety, children under 6 must have a second adult dedicated to their supervision. 

    Accompanied children who are 6 and older may attend if they can: 

    • remain calm around the puppies (no squealing, jumping, or running)

    • stay seated until it's their turn to train

    • follow directions and not disrupt class

    • refrain from approaching other puppies unless it's before or after class, and only if the other puppy shows comfortable body language and the puppy's parent gives permission

    This is for everyone's safety and positive experience! Because waiting and patience will be needed, our parents have had best success when bringing a few quiet kid activities (books, sketch pad and markers, ipad, snacks, etc), as well, in case they need something to do between turns or if they decide they don't want to participate. For more information about kids and puppies click here!

    • Cash Refund Window: Cash refunds will only be provided when requested within 72 hours of purchase AND at least 5 days (120 hours) prior to the course start time.

    • Credit Refunds/ Exchanges: You may switch to a different course or service without penalty when requested with greater than five days before your course is set to start. If you can not complete your course for any reason after the five day deadline has passed, either before or after your course has started, WP will give you an account credit worth 50% of the value of your remaining sessions. Credits for group courses are valid for up to one year.

    • Missing Class: We do not offer make up classes, however, you will receive a weekly email that has videos for the skills from class so you can work at home at your own pace! If your puppy can't come to a class due to illness, injury, or estrus, we also highly encourage you to come to class without your puppy to take advantage learning in person!

  • Have to miss a class? No worries! While we do not offer make-up classes, our trainers provide in-depth homework emails each week for you to follow along with and “work from home”! We will be happy to have you rejoin class the following week.

    Wonder Puppy is CLOSED on major holidays, so if you have holiday travel plans, don’t worry! You likely won’t have to miss class. Wonder Puppy is CLOSED (no class) on the following holidays in 2025:

    • Easter Sunday (April 20th)

    • Memorial Day Weekend (May 24th - 26th)

    • Fourth of July Weekend (July 4th - 6th)

    • Labor Day Weekend (August 30th - September 1st)

    • Thanksgiving Weekend (November 27th - 30th)

    • Winter Break (Dates TBD!)
